Ok, before any sort of social media strategy is to get underway with Partycles, we need to make sure that “the basics” for any company has been setup.

The basics?

In most cases, I’m talking about the big 5:

Facebook

The Facebook page for any social media strategy is often used as the hub.  It’s the place where most of your other content will be syndicated (published) to, and it’s also the most popular and commonly used platform, so it’s a wise use move to use it as your main “go to” social media page.  There are other strategies where the blog site is used as the hub, but for Partycles, we’ll be giving that role to Facebook.

Partycles already has a properly setup Facebook “page”.  However, it needs some love and so very soon we’ll be adding a twitter and YouTube feed, some custom landing pages, a nice great dirty big profile pic.

Twitter

A twitter account is used to not only “tell the world” your message, but to also allow interaction between other twitter users.  It’s also a great source for research and for keeping up with current trends and events.  Smart searching using hashtags could possibly lead to work.

Partycles funnily enough doesn’t have a twitter account though this will change by the time you read this.

YouTube

A YouTube channel is mandatory to easily allow the sharing of your multimedia content.  There are definitely other platforms available, but YouTube is always a good place to quickly start to share your videos.  Video content is the way of the future, so having a YouTube channel is a must!

As with the twitter account, Partycles does not have a channel.  But it will have by the time this is published.

A Blog

A blog will be one of your main content resources.  It will contain blog posts about your business, linked videos from YouTube, pictures from your latest product or outfitting, and even podcasts for when you decide to venture down that path.  There is no limit to the amount and type of content you can publish on your blog.

I believe in having a blog separate to your main website as it can basically stand on its own.  Blogs built into websites often get lost amongst the other pages and they never seem quite as effective.  A standalone blog also allows you to expand the focus of it to not just your business, but your industry.

So, if you’re a niche furniture designer wanting to start a blog, don’t focus it on the business itself, but rather about design in general with an angle leaning towards furniture.  You’ll be able to get content from other great designers and potentially get new clients that normally would not have known about your brand to begin with.

Doing this allows for more content from more sources, which means more traffic, which means more exposure and in most cases more sales.

Partycles is yet to start their blog, and at the minute are deciding on a suitable domain name (important).  We hope to have a site up by the weeks end with the first bit of content up for consumption.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn at present is growing in leaps and bounds.  Though the description of “Facebook for Business” is still accurate, more and more companies are beginning to pop up on this platform.  The focus is still very much on the professional services industry with the retail side not very well represented.

At this stage, we will NOT be including LinkedIn as part of the Partycles social media landscape though we will assess this at a later stage.

It is important to establish accounts in most if not all of the areas listed above.  There’s a saying to “go where your customers are” and we are following this with LinkedIn.  Though you can argue that customers are virtually everywhere, we feel it is important to firstly strengthen the relationships with the already clearly defined categories.

Stay tuned for all the Partycles social media updates, right here!
