There was an eye opening article published the other week in a major newspaper in Australia. Without getting into too much detail, it mentioned that Google will soon be modifying their search algorithm to penalise businesses that DO NOT have a strong social media presence.

To take things one step further, the 2 biggest social media platforms, Facebook and twitter, are NOT included in these search algorithms.

What does this mean? Google+.

If you’re business is not on Google+ then the chances of it ranking highly in search engine results will be greatly diminished. Now the Google change is effective only in the US at this stage, but there are plans to roll this out internationally.

So today’s tip is to click on this to start creating a Google+ page for your business and if you have specific questions about how social media can help your business, please drop me an email or leave a comment below.
